Ivan Tarakanov
Ivan won the Special Grand Prix as Best Male Dancer and First Prize at the Children and Youth XI International Competition ‘Riga Spring 2015’. That year, he joined Israel Ballet as a principal dancer. In 2016, he choreographed ‘Sense of Time’ for the Next Step Project. In 2017, he performed with Perth City Ballet as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, contributed to its choreography at The Quarry Amphitheatre, and danced a lead in Giselle. In 2019, he guest-starred as the Prince in Swan Lake. He later joined Atlanta Ballet, excelling in leading and solo roles with choreographers including Alex Ekman, Dwight Roden, and Yuri Posokhov, while becoming a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists. In 2020, he performed the Nutcracker in their Kennedy Center tour and created the grant-funded Poison 19 as filmmaker-choreographer. From 2020, he guested with Saint-Petersburg companies like the Russian Ballet Company of Anna Pavlova. He pursued film and theatre directing studies in Russia. In 2023, his documentary Follow My Voice screened at the Global Film and Music Festival in America; back in Perth, he restaged Aladdin and created the one-act Tree We Grew.Since 2024, Ivan has been a principal dancer with Fever’s “We call it ballet.” That year, he earned Finalist status in the International Training Award, the TAFE Ambassador Award, and International Student of the Year (CISWA). In 2025, he directed the short film Dangerous Dance and danced in projects including Signal 30 by Claire Voss and the charity Nightingale by Kathrine Rowney.
